there is something oddly impressive about a degree in math. at least, i always seem to get interesting reactions from people when they find out it was my major. (i hope it’s not just because i come across very ditzy most of the time and can barely add in my head.)
but anyway, a master’s in math sounds even more impressive. so i’m guessing you can add in your head. congrats.

Unfortunately, arithmetic and being a mathematician have as much in common as knowing to change a tyre and being a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering.
yeah, i know. it’s just embarrassing because other people don’t know that, and so they’ll come to you and say “quick, what’s 18% of…”
